The entire episode feels as though it's on the verge of becoming funnier and more interesting than it is. The episode teases a tour music video, even using a piano intro similar to Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home," but nothing really happens there either. The song itself isn't catchy or memorable and has next to nothing to do with the story. The video is a simple walk and sing bit interspersed with some random footage of mermaids and other nonsense that is vaguely amusing but nowhere near as YouTube-worthy as most of their videos. There's only one song in the entire episode, a lounge number about "Mermaids" that is beneath the Conchords' standards as well.

They're predictably duped by a women's water polo team, there's a very unfunny joke about Jemaine "getting buzzed" on mixed nuts, and even Mel doesn't do much for the episode as a groupie stalking the guys. The running gag of the guys getting into rock and roll-type mischief by accident starts out amusing but really doesn't go anywhere. There was lots of potential here for some funny material, but none of it ever really surfaces. To make matters worse, he's only recently reunited with his wife, Shelly, who keeps calling him about "those effing idiots" he manages. Murray seems to be going through some sort of mid-life crisis, as he's pulled all of his money out of his savings and checking accounts to fund the tour.

The episode chronicles the band's first tour, which is really just a series of seemingly impromptu "gigs" in various hotel lobbies. It was bound to happen sooner than later, and here it is - Flight of the Conchords' first bad episode.
